Rocks Up Late (Vadamos) put in a great debut at Worcester to record our first winner of the new season under Ben Jones.
The gelding provided two of our current BPR team members, Sam and Zach a first memorable first win as owners! Congratulations to all connections.

As the curtain comes down on the season, we can reflect on what has been a hugely successful year for Ben Pauling Racing. While the last few weeks have been a little quieter, the overall highlights of the season are nothing short of exceptional. To secure two Grade 1 victories, four Grade 2s and some big handicaps, marks this out as one of our most memorable seasons to date!
We’ve consistently sent out winners throughout the year, breaking through the £1 million prize money mark once again—a milestone that reflects the strength and depth of our team and horses. From exciting novices to seasoned campaigners, the squad has delivered on the big days and done our owners and team proud. The continued support of our owners has been instrumental to all we’ve achieved, and we are truly grateful for their faith and enthusiasm. Now, as our winter string heads off for a well-earned break in the paddocks, attention turns to our summer jumpers, who are gearing up for their moment in the spotlight. The new season brings fresh targets, new faces, and endless possibilities—we can’t wait to get going again. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. — Team BPR Crystal Days recieves a warm welcome back into the winners enclosure from the Lee's after defying her large odds to win the bumper at Warwick!
Huge congratulations to all connections of this filly. Delighted she is heading out on her holidays a winner! Twig Finishes 10th in the Grand National – A Remarkable Day for the Morgan Family
We couldn’t be prouder of Twig, who ran his heart out to finish 10th in the 2025 Randox Grand National at Aintree – a truly monumental achievement for all involved, especially the Morgan family for whom Twig has been and continues to be sensational. Twig is owned by Georgia Morgan and ridden by her son Beau, making this a uniquely special story. The bond between horse and rider has been built over years, with Beau having ridden Twig since the very start of his career. From the point-to-point circuit to the greatest stage in jump racing, their partnership has captured hearts and delivered some incredible moments along the way. Among their career highlights so far are a thrilling win in the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter Racecourse and an outstanding performance to finish second in the Ultima Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. But Saturday’s Grand National was something else entirely – the atmosphere, the pressure, and the 30 fences that make this the ultimate test of stamina and courage. To see Twig take it all in his stride and finish in the top ten of the world’s most famous steeplechase is a credit to his heart, our team here at BPR, and the unwavering belief of the Morgan family. It was a day none of us will forget, and one that underlines just how far this special horse has come. Congratulations to Georgia, Arron, Beau, Luca and the entire team behind Twig. He did us all proud. Saturday’s Grand National will mark another first for Beau Morgan and his beloved Twig. The duo have made the cut for the world’s greatest steeplechase and embark on their first spin over the those infamous birch fences. A race where legends are made and names are etched into history. Just how did these two wind up here?
Every horse in the National will have their story. Twig and Beau are no different. Bred by Laurie Strangman and his wife Alicia, Twig’s first couple of starts under rules were lacklustre to say the least! As a young horse Twig was particularly susceptible to bugs and being a weak, backward type the Strangman’s made the decision to move him on. At the time Luca Morgan was our Conditional Jockey and looking for a horse to get his younger brother Beau started on. The Strangman’s kindly agreed that the Morgan’s would be a good fit for Twig and provide Beau with a nice horse to go pointing on for a small fee. Matt and Felicity Hampton of Braysdown Stables trained Twig for the Morgan family with Matt riding Twig in his first run in December 2020 to finish third. Beau then stepped into the saddle and you could say never looked back! Beau’s first ride on Twig was a winning one, and was quickly followed by more. After a dabble in Hunter Chasing the decision was made to run Twig back under rules and back to us he came. Together Twig & Beau have finished second at the Cheltenham Festival and scored their big win in the Summer Cup. Not many partnerships can have claimed to have ticked off so many achievements off a bucket list. When asking Beau about Saturday’s upcoming race one word was uttered “mad!”. “What Twig has already done for me is unreal, he was my first ride, first winner, first ride at the Cheltenham Festival and now to have a confirmation in the Grand National – that’s mad. It’s every aspiring jockey’s dream to ride over those fences and to get the opportunity with a horse that has already given us all so much means everything. The support from Luca, Mum and Dad is huge – they have given me opportunities I am so grateful for.” We wish all runners the best of luck for Saturday’s race – but just maybe a little bit extra for Twig & Beau!! Rock Sensation was given a lovely ride by Callum Pritchard and proved a true professional with her well timed run round the outside to pick up the win at Southwell in the Mares' Bumper. Congratualtions to her group of owners and to her groom Matty.
Jimbo Sport provided the English half of his ownership reason to celebrate on course at Hereford with his emphatic debut bumper win. The American half of Transatlantic Thoroughbreds had to wait those extra few minutes due to the delay to start their cheers!
Congratulations to you all - Jimbo looks a fun one for the future. Wolf Moon showcases plenty of pace round two miles at Huntingdon. All 17.3hh of Wolf's stature proved particularly useful in the photo finish! Congratualtions to the Hooks and all connections of this smart son of Pether's Moon. He's certainly proving a passion for his job.
Groovy Blue justified his short odds with a lovely run at Market Rasen under Ben Jones. Congratualtions to his owners Dan and Hilary on his second career win.
It's always fun when a horse gains a following, even more so when said horse is giving his supporters something to cheer for.
Following up his last start win, Bad and Ben Jones provided a masterclass in patience with their spin around Kempton in the feature Handicap Chase. Patience has been the name of Bad's campaign, whilst Ben P. has never lost faith in this grey,Bad has had, until recently a good tendancy of finding a way to be beaten! We are delighted for owner David Howden that Bad is realising his potential and enjoying battling to the line to get his head infront! Just like old times! David Bass gave The Jukebox Kid a brilliant spin round Uttoxeter to win well on their rules debut. A lovely run from a horse with a bright future. We are delighted for his recently formed group of owners and Ryan who rides Kid at home.
Diva Luna gained further valuable black type when finishing third in the Grade 2 Mares' Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, just pipped by two Irish invaders! An exceptionally talented mare who has not enjoyed the easiest of seasons, we were delighted she was able to put it behind her and be back to her best for the big day.
Congratulations to the Maclennans on the first of we are sure, many Cheltenham Festival performers! Stardhem has certainly taken to the bigger obstacles! Owned by Pimlico Racing, Stardhem made it back to back wins and gave the BPR team a double on the day at Huntingdon during Festival week.
Congratulations to all connections! While most eyes were fixed on Cheltenham, The Decision Makers' focus was on Youdecide at Huntingdon. Making his Handicap debut Youdecide put in a lovely performance under a great ride from Callum Pritchard to take the win. Congratulations to all connections!
Awaythelad ran a competitive race at Southwell under Ben Jones to take the win for his owners, Geri & The Pacemakers.
Congratulations to all connections! I've Madeupmymind gives owner / breeder Mrs Caroline Waters plenty to smile about with her win under Ben Jones at Bangor. The daughter of Blue Bresil is the first out of Two Swallows, who Ben also trained for Caroline. Neither mother nor daughter are tall mares but for what they lack in size they make up for in their attitudes to the job.
Congratulations to all connections. Oh Bad you’ve done it!
Bad was so close to making our winning trio a winning quartet at Ascot last season but there was no doubt on Saturday that this Handicap Chase was his. A brilliant ten length win under Ben Jones at Kempton Park Racecourse for David Howden & his family, congratulations to you all - Bad was great! 𝐌𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐔𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄
𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝟐 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐉𝐮𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞 Mambonumberfive & Ben Jones kicked our Saturday at Kempton Park Racecourse off with a mighty bang! Allowing the son of Born To Sea to settle behind the early leaders, Ben Jones left it until the second last to ask the question and by goodness, Mambo was electric in response! We are absolutely delighted for MAL Bloodstock & all connections of this classy gelding. A Grade 2 winner with a lot to look forward too George, who looks after Mambo, better keep a close eye on his lucky orange tie, that’s two Grade 2 wins he’s worn it for now! (& no we’re not tired of the song just yet!) OUR BOY STAN gets up to win the last on the card at Kempton Park to provide the team with a brilliant Saturday treble
February has been a month to remember for the Ben’s & all of team BPR with the horses really bringing their A-game. Congratulations to Forty Winks Racing, it’s a long time to wait when you source horses as foals but worth it when they perform like Stan Well done to Molly who looks after and rides Stan everyday! Walter to his friends, provided Elliot England with his first win under rules at Ludlow.
A horse that always gives his all, Whatsupwithyou has created so many special memories for his owners Gill & Richard as well as for team BPR. This winning run was brilliant and a pleasure to watch. Congratulations Walter, Gill & Elliot! What a day to remember. No Questions Asked's quick turn around after his credible second in the Sidney Banks went to plan when the Cheltenham bound Novice Hurdler added another win to his CV.
Ludlow's race provided the Bens with the chance to run the son of Ask slightly differently to previous races and consequentially gain essential experience ahead of his possible Cheltenham assignments. Congratulations to his owners - let the wait begin! Slipway made a winning return to the smaller obstacles after a four year hiatus! Showing the young guns how it's done,
Slipway put a smile on everyone's face - none more so than owner Mrs SNJ Embiricos. Congratulations to all connections on such a happy win! Roysse raced with his usual zest at Uttoxeter on Saturday. Well piloted by Liam Harrison and despite a few dubious leaps Roysse's class enabled him to finally get his deserved win. Congratulations to his owners, The OAs.

Ben Pauling holds Handstands in the highest regard after he produced a classy performance to land the Grade 2 DragonBet Towton Novices' Chase and continue the trainer’s stellar season with his novices. Handstands recorded his fifth career win from seven starts, with last year's Gallagher Novices' Hurdle, won by Ballyburn at the Cheltenham Festival, and a chase debut at Wincanton when falling three out, his only defeats. The nine-length victory confirmed the promise of the Tim Radford-owned six-year-old, who could return to the top level for next month’s Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown. Pauling said: "I think that’ll work out to be a good performance and he’s a decent horse with a good future. The Scilly Isles was always the plan and Ben [Jones, jockey] said he was fresh as a daisy coming in, which is good. If he’s fit and well over the next few days, and if he’s in the same bit of form then 100 per cent he’ll go to Sandown. "That will, undoubtedly, have been a hard race and we’ve got to hope he bounces out of it because I wouldn’t want to run him under par." Handstands was one of only two finishers in the six-runner contest as Range fell at the seventh, while Saint Davy took a heavy fall at the third last and hampered Hillcrest, who unseated Sam Twiston-Davies. Cherie D'Am, who quickly weakened under Harry Skelton, also came down at the same fence. Handstands backed up his success over three miles in the Grade 2 Esher Novices' Chase, and Pauling added: “It was another step in the right direction. "It was a funny one because the ground looked very hard work. Although he won on proper wet ground at Huntingdon, I was a little nervous how he’d take it today. He jumped a little bit [like a] novice and bold, and hung in the air at a couple of fences because it was probably hard to get out of the ground. But ultimately he put the race bed with ease." Handstands was cut to 20-1 (from 40s) with Betfair for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham, but Pauling believes Aintree could be on the radar for his five-time winner. He said: "He wasn’t himself when he turned up at Cheltenham last year and I don’t think it’s necessarily on his agenda this year. He’s more likely to go to Aintree, and that’s mainly the owners preference over mine. "It’s not that I don’t think he’s good enough. If we’re going to go to Sandown then he would have had a busy period up to Cheltenham and that bit of extra time before Aintree would see him to his best." Vanderpoel quickly records a debut win over hurdles for new owner Lady Dulverton. A very exciting start for the Irish Pointing graduate with an impressive jumping display at Huntingdon under Ben Jones.
