After what has been a tough time with the loss of Willoughby the team have all rowed together and the tenacity in the yard is a credit to each and every person that works here. They have picked themselves up, come together and with the help of the horses last week they have given us plenty to smile about.

THE MACON LUGNATIC provided a great day at Newbury as this talented youngster demonstrated his class and stamina in a bumper full of depth. After a puzzling run at Warwick it was great to see him bounce back to the form he showed at Uttoxeter. He is still very much a baby learning his trade as he took a little while as they turned for home to get into top gear but once he did, he flew home in what was a thrilling finish to the delight of us all and the syndicate. They are a great bunch of owners who have supported us from day one so it’s great to see their colours back in the winner’s enclosure. It’s fair to say that plenty of bottles of the Macons’ name sake was drunk that night in celebration!  They have owned three horses with us and all have won. Not a bad record!

Haydock put on one of its big Saturdays of the year with three Grade 2’s on the card and we sent up some of our big guns with LE BREUIL, BRIGHT FORECAST AND GLOBAL CITIZEN all lining up in the Graded races.

LE BREUIL ran a creditable 4th.  His fate was perhaps sealed turning for home as he didn’t quite seem himself and was unable to boss from the front like he usually does but this talented horse still did himself proud. Now we’ve got him home a few things have come to light and we are sure we can eek out further improvement as he heads to the Festival.

The talented youngster BRIGHT FORECAST took his place in the Supreme Trial against the highly thought of Mister Fisher of Nicky Henderson’s. There seemed to be no pace in the race so David decided to let Bright Forecast roll.  He is still very much a big baby, but he ran an absolute cracker to finish 2nd. He is a horse we all adore and is a very exciting prospect going forward.

GLOBAL CITIZEN lined up for The Unibet The New One Trial formerly the Champion Hurdle trial a hotly contested contest that has produced past Champion Hurdle Winners. Global looked a different horse from the one we saw at Kempton. He was the ultimate professional, jumping brilliantly and showing his class to win nicely. He is a horse that is a joy to be a part of.

It was a great Saturday for the team not to mention the fabulous run that RAVENS TOWER delivered at Taunton to finish 3rd. He has been so consistent not out of the three all season and deserves to hit the top spot soon.

The Megsons’ THE CAPTAINS INN headed to Leicester for a competitive Novice Hurdle. This classy horse was coming off the back of a bumper run that had shown him to be below pare so we were hopeful that on hurdles debut he would show us all what we see a home on the track. Under Daryl he jumped well and took command after the second last to win convincingly. We are thrilled for the Megsons who seem to have another lovely horse on their hands, and we look forward to seeing what this boy can do going forward.

This Saturday sees the team heading to Cheltenham and Doncaster as Kildisart lines up in a competitive Novice at the home of jumps and Nadiatak takes his chance in the Grade 2 River Don up at Doncaster won by no other than Barters Hill a few years ago so lets’ hope he can emulate his success.
